New Delhi: Former BJD leader and Nabrangpur MP Balbhadra Majhi joined BJP Saturday. After joining the saffron party, Majhi said, “It’s a great day for me. I was in a regional party earlier. Today I am feeling great to become a part of the BJP, a national party. I have no hunger for ticket; I will work for the party and the people of Odisha.” He thanked Naveen Patnaik for giving him an opportunity to work for the people of Odisha but dubbed BJD ‘undemocratic’. “I’m thankful to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik for giving me an opportunity to work for the people. I was working hard in the area but I don’t know why party didn’t consider taking my views on decision making in my area. The BJD unit has been functioning undemocratically in Nabrangpur and Malkangiri area,” Majhi who quit BJD Tuesday citing various reasons said. Lashing out at the state government for the “underdevelopment of tribal people”, Balbhadra said only BJP could work for the tribals. “I feel that BJP can work for the development of tribal belt. The BJD government has shown least interest in the progress of tribals in the state,” he said.
