Like every year, the BCCI revises the salary structure of the Indian national cricket team.
Virat Kohli and company’s lucrative salaries have awed fans who just can’t wrap their heads around how much their favourite sporting stars earn. Here’s a breakdown of Team India’s salary bracket which is divided into four categories:
A+ Category
This bracket is occupied by the world’s No.1 Test cricketer and India captain Kohli, world’s No.1 ODI bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Mumbai Indians star Rohit Sharma. Each one of them would receive a cheque of Rs. 7 crore during the next year.
A Category
The second highest bracket has a salary of Rs. 5 crore and includes the major chunk of the national team including Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav.
B Category
This category is occupied by KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya each of whom will go on to earn Rs. 3 crore in the coming financial year.
C Category
The bottom bracket features Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, H Vihari, Khaleel Ahmed and Wriddhiman Saha will go on to earn Rs. 1 crore each.
That is not all. Despite earning these huge sums of money from the BCCI every year, the players also have a plethora of endorsement deals. The Indian Premier League (IPL) also has a handsome salary package and clubs dish out eye watering contracts to their players.
