Rahul, drama
Sir: Rahul Gandhi is on a roll. After returning from his mysterious foreign jaunt, he is holding Padayatras in state after state, and is showing a keenness to hog limelight. His attack on the ruling party, however, is often misleading and misguided rhetoric. He should rather catch the government on the wrong foot. Calling the NDA government as a suit-boot ki sarkar might draw him publicity mileage, but he could not substantiate such allegations. We are under a democratic set-up and we need to maintain decorum in Parliament. When a majority of votes are in support of the land bill, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party are standing in its way and fishing in troubled waters. Even farmers’ agitations are dying down. By backing such agitations, it is unlikely that Rahul Gandhi can build clout or better his image.

Hockey, Walsh
Sir: It is good that new national men’s hockey chief coach Terry Walsh is looking at a time-frame of five to seven years for the country to regain its lost glory. It however is a million dollar question as to whether our hockey mandarins will help Walsh regain India’s lost glory.

Milk, prices
Sir: As per the report published in OP (5-5-2015), Orissa State Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (OMFED) procures 4.44lakh litres of milk per day whereas the saleable milk production in the state has risen to 5.20lakh litres a day. This has resulted in a glut in the market, and OMFED is unable to dispose of the surplus milk. In case such surplus milk is stored for a longer period, it will be unfit for human consumption. Under such circumstances, it will be prudent to lower the price so that customers will be in a position to buy more milk. But, the administrative proposal for marketing the product online may result in a loss for OMFED. Also, the proposal for delivery at the doorsteps of consumers may meet with the same fate, as most of the consumers in the state are not used to such a practice. They might even ask for delivery first and periodic payments, which could lead to a payment defaults as well.
