Bhubaneswar: Three persons were arrested Wednesday on charges of snatching a gold chain from a woman on Raj Mahal over-bridge here Sunday, a senior Capital police official said.
Debasis Swain of Saguan Bagicha, Swagat Pattnaik of Santrapur and Tapan Routray of Uparsahi under Town police limits in Khurda have been taken into custody on charges of snatching a gold chain from Kirtimayee Mishra, a resident of Canal Road under Laxmisagar police limits here, Sunday.
“The accused have been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim’s husband Susanta Panda, a case (124/19) has been registered under Section 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the IPC. A two-wheeler (OD-33-M-6684) and a gold chain weighing 12-gram have been recovered from the trio,” a Capital police official said.
An official said that the victim, along with her husband, was on her way to Unit-I market here Sunday evening when two of the accused intercepted the couple and snatched the chain from Kirtimayee before fleeing the spot. The victim had sustained injuries in a scuffle with the miscreants.
