It becomes difficult to avoid getting tanned in summer when you work outdoors. Covering yourself from head to toe or using a sunscreen lotion often doesn’t yield the desired result. For movie stars, staying out of the sun is next to impossible in their profession. Sunday POST talked to some Odia film actresses on the precautions they take to combat the sweltering heat.

I never forget to drink water frequently to stay hydrated. I am very poor at pampering myself. So, I opt for easy-to-prepare milk ice cubes to apply on my face. I cleanse my face and gently massage some milk ice cubes to get rid of tan. Summer fashion means loose clothes, comfortable fabrics like linen and cotton, flowy skirts and lots of whites. However, a short frock is my all-time favourite during summer when I am indoors.

I protect my skin with a sunscreen lotion with SPF during day shoots. When I stay indoors, I make sure to use a paste made of gram flour and turmeric as I hate using too many cosmetics on my face or spending hours in beauty salons. That apart, I use tomato juice and curd to protect my skin in the summer season.

I always keep water with me to stay hydrated all the time during summer. Most importantly, I use a face mist on the shooting sets so that my face does not look dull and dehydrated. You will always find a face mist in my handbag. About summer outfits, I love wearing loose fitting clothes. During outings, I opt for palazzo pants with kurti or crop top.

It may sound strange, but I use Boroline cream to protect my skin from being tanned. Besides, I make sure to use sunscreen lotion before stepping outside. When it comes to natural remedies, I use tomato juice and a paste made from milk and gram flour to prevent sunburn and get a glowing skin during summer. Summer for me is all about cottons and light colours.

As the body gets dehydrated in summer due to loss of fluids, I keep sipping plain water throughout the day and avoid spicy food. Two things that I cannot do without during summer are sunscreen and at least six bottles of water for daytime shooting. In order to avoid getting suntanned, I prefer to wear long skirts with tops or crop tops.
