Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) BK Sharma Friday directed the Superintendents of Police (SPs) to make adequate preparations and leave no stone unturned to ensure an incident-free election April 18.
The second phase of polling in the state will be held for five Lok Sabha seats – Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Aska, Kandhamal and 35 Assembly seats falling under these parliamentary constituencies.
Reviewing the poll preparations through video conferencing from police headquarters at Cuttack, with Range IGP/DIG and SPs of 11 districts, Sharma emphasised on free, fair, transparent, impartial and incident-free elections in these districts, enforcement of model code of conduct, strict adherence to the guidelines for police arrangement and security arrangements including visit of VIPs and VVIPs.
The DGP specifically interacted with the SPs of Nayagarh, Rourkela, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Berhampur, Boudh, Ganjam and Kandhamal under whose jurisdictions the second phase election will be held.
The DGP also reviewed the result of enforcement drive taken up by different districts. Earlier, targets were fixed for the SPs on bounding down of persons u/s 110 CrPc, seizure of illegal arms, seizure of illicit liquor and execution of non-bailable arrest warrants.
In the meeting, DGP asked the SPs to use the CAPFs in a proper manner and prepare a complete security plan for the districts. CAPFs need to be used in the area domination work, mobile patrolling and static deployment in the sensitive booths.
He also asked the SPs to submit their additional requirement of
man power and that for anti-Naxal operations to ADGP (L&O) and ADGP (operation) forthwith.
