Bhubaneswar: In view of the intense heatwave which has currently gripped Odisha, the state government Tuesday took the decision to prepone the summer vacation for schools and educational institutions, April 18 onwards. The earlier date for the commencement of the vacations was May 6.
The date has been changed to April 18 keeping in mind prevalent temperatures, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi. “The state government has decided to start summer vacations early in view of the intense heat wave conditions in Odisha,” the SRC told reporters.
Twelve places in Odisha recorded Monday maximum temperatures of above 40 degree Celsius. The Regional Meteorological Centre has also predicted that there will be no major change in day temperature across Odisha during the next two days.
