Bhubaneswar: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, Surendra Kumar said Wednesday that 76.93 lakh voters will exercise their rights in the second phase of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections which will take place, Thursday.
Talking to reporters here, Kumar said that there are 39.45 lakh male voters, 37.47 lakh female voters and 605 in the third category. Five Lok Sabha constituencies and 35 Assembly segments will go to polls in the second phase.
The CEO also informed that the 9,117 polling booths will be pressed into service so that people can cast their vote easily and nearly 60,000 personnel have been engaged for the second phase of votes. The CEO also stated that 870 volunteers have been appointed to help senior citizens and physically-challenged persons to cast their votes.
Out of the total number of booths, 3,701 have been identified as ‘critical’. To ensure smooth polling in these booths, central forces has been deployed at 739 booths while video casting will be done at 883 booths and CCTV installed at 623
The five Lok Sabha constituencies which will go to polls are Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska.
