Puri: The laxity in the security arrangements at the Jagannath temple here has once again come to the fore after a youth Saturday climbed atop and reached the ‘Neelchakra’.
How the youth, identified as Hatia Mahanta of Bhadrak district, managed to hoodwink the deployed security persons and climb to the top of the temple has become a topic of discussion.
When Hatia was untying a flag from the ‘Neelchakra’, a servitor accidentally saw him and immediately alerted the temple staff and security personnel on duty.
Security personnel then asked Hatia to come down. He was taken to Singhadwar police station where he divulged his identification.
Investigation is on to find out how Hatia was able to evade the watchful eyes of security persons and CCTV cameras and climb to the top of temple. He is also being questioned as to why he wanted to untie the flag.
