Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday promised that people who lost their houses after cyclone Fani will get pucca houses from the government.
The state government plans to review the losses incurred by people and prepare a list of such beneficiaries.
Talking to reporters, Patnaik said, “All families whose houses are completely or substantially damaged due to the extremely severe cyclone Fani will be sanctioned pucca houses. House damage assessment will begin May 15 and conclude within a week.”
The CM said state government officials will take stock of the damage inflicted by the storm and prepare a list of beneficiaries who would get assistance for pucca houses from the government. The Chief Minister assured the people that no single household would be left behind and all those who suffered losses including shelters would get government relief.
“In extremely affected blocks, senior officers will oversee the assessment process. Work order distribution to the beneficiaries will begin June 1. I assure that efforts will be made to ensure that no single eligible person is left out,” said Patnaik.
The announcement comes after media reports of massive devastation of kuccha houses by the cyclonic storm which rendered many people homeless.
Notably, Penthakota and Raghurajpur in Puri district and many other coastal areas saw massive devastation of houses while many shops and commercial establishments got affected in the calamity.
