Koraput/Anandapur: Altogether 71 persons were taken ill after consuming food at marriage feats and from roadside vendors at Koraput and Bhadrak districts respectively.
Around 60 persons were taken ill after consuming food at marriage functions at Tingiriaguda and Keluguda villages of Koraput district Sunday night.
According to sources, locals of the two villages – Tingiriaguda and Keluguda – consumed food served during marriage feasts last night.
Some villagers complained of stomachache and started vomiting soon after taking the food. The victims were then admitted to Baipariguda Community Health Centre where they were undergoing treatment till the last report came in.
A medical team was constantly monitoring the health condition of those who suffered from food poisoning, sources said.
Similarly, around 11 persons of Ghasipura were taken ill after consuming street food from a particular eating outlet under Ghasipura police station at Anandpur block in Bhadrak district Sunday evening.
The patients were undergoing treatment at Anandpur headquarters hospital. As per the doctors, the heath condition of a girl was critical while the others were out of danger.
The persons who were taken ill are—Babul Saha, Dipak Nayak, Krupasindhu Rout, Rashmiranjam Mohapatra, Somya Saha, Subash Saninigraha and Lipun Sanibigraha among four others.
Even though what precisely caused the incident is not known, food poisoning owing to contamination is suspected to be the reason behind this.
