Sambalpur, June 14: Expressing concern over ongoing stalemate to start admission process at the proposed IIM in the state from the current academic season, Paschimanchal People’s Forum, an organisation fighting for the setting up of the premier educational institution in the district, held a meeting at Samaleswari Temple here Sunday.
The members of the organisation sent a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to notify admission and start classroom activities from the current academic session.
The local body has also threatened to launch a movement if their demands are not met within a week. The members of the outfit would stage demonstrations simultaneously in front of the Union Ministry for Human Resources Development in New Delhi and near the statue of Veer Surendra Sai at Jail Square in Sambalpur if the demands are not met, said a spokesperson of the outfit.
The outfit also requested Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is currently on a visit to New Delhi, to take up the issue with Union minister for HRD Smriti Irani. The CM should hold discussion with the union minister for initiation of admission in IIM and start of classroom activities from the current academic season, the outfit added.
Sapan Mishra, convener of the outfit, said IIM Indore has been chosen as the mentor for Orissa campus of IIM.
