Daringbadi: Taking serious objection to passengers being ferried precariously on the roof top of a government bus, motor vehicle inspector (MVI) Thursday served a show cause notice on the in-charge of Odisha State Road and Transport Corporation (OSRTC).
According to reports, the said bus continues to ply between Hatimunda and Phulbani. Overloading in the vehicle and carrying passengers on rooftop are common occurrences.
MVI Gatikrushna Samantray has also asked the authorities to deposit the driving licenses of the driver and conductor of the said bus with his office.
Samantray mentions in his letter that carrying passengers on roof top of bus on a difficult and ghat road like Hatimunda road is a violation of section 192 (A) of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
Disciplinary action would be taken in case the direction is ignored, the letter mentions.
