Mumbai: ‘Sultan’ actress Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli’s marriage announcement was a bolt from the blue, even though they had been dating for an extended period. At that time, the careers of both were at their peak. The two tied the nuptial knot in 2017 and at that time Anushka was only 27.
Approximately a year-and-a-half has gone by with the two making headlines on a number of occasions together. They have been christened ‘Virushka’ by the media.
Anushka has now revealed the reasons for getting married early.
“Our audience has grown more than our industry. Now the viewers are interested in watching the artist just on the screen. They don’t care about your personal lives,” Anushka has been quoted as saying in an interview.
“It does not matter whether you got married or you have become a mother. We need to get out of this headspace. I married at the age of 29, which is too young for an actress. I did this because I was in love … and I love him (Virat). Marriage is something that takes the relationship forward. I always took a stand for the fact that women should be treated with same kind of behaviour as men,” the actress has added.
“His (Virat) honesty is one thing I deeply value. I am an honest girl, so I am aware of these things. I am very happy that I met someone like him, because both of us live our life with complete honesty. I have a life partner who does not have anything pretentious … everything is true.
“I did not want to stay in fear while living the most beautiful moment of my life. If a man is not scared of getting married and continuing to work then why should not it be in the case of women?” Anushka Sharma asserted.
Virat and Anushka married December 11 at Borgo Finocchieto in Italy 2017. They organised several receptions in New Delhi and Mumbai both of which were attended by guests including top actors of the Hindi film industry and political bigwigs.
On the work front, Anushka is yet to sign her next project.
