Jeypore: Cannabis mafia Kabul Khara was injured in a police encounter near Hatisala Chowk of Jeypore city in Koraput district Wednesday morning.
He has been admitted to Jeypore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
According to a source, the police, acting on a tip-off, reached Hatisala chowk and tried to apprehend Kabul. However, he opened fire at them. In the subsequent exchange of fire, a bullet fired by the cops hit his right leg.
A 7mm pistol, live bullets and a car under his possession were seized from the encounter spot.
The dreaded criminal is wanted by Jeypore Town, Jeypore Sadar, Borigumma and Nabarangpur police for several cases.
