Balasore: A video depicting a young man tied to a tree and being physically assaulted by villagers has gone viral in Laxamannath panchayat under Jaleswar police limits of Balasore district.
According to a source, the incident took place in Gope village.
The man, identified as 23-years-old Sahil Khan from Panchughunta village, allegedly used to pass lewd comments to the girls and women there. After several complaints from their near and dear ones, a number of villagers caught hold of him, tied him to a tree and beat him black and blue.
Tension ran high in the village for some time over the issue. The villagers said that the man is a habitual offender.
