Rasulpur: At least 14 members from three families at Hatasahi village of Rajendrapur panchayat in Jajpur district were taken ill after consuming some poisonous mushrooms.
They were all rushed to Dharmasala and Madhuban Community Health Centres (CHC). However, after preliminary treatment, they were discharged.
Sources said, there were mushrooms bloomed at the haystack of Sukuta Arana. The family members Monday plucked this seasonal food, kept something for own consumption and distributed the rest among two neighbours — the families of Bhagabat Patra and Bidyadhar Mohanty.
The three families had the mushrooms for lunch. Soon after lunch, they complained of nausea and giddiness. Bidydhar (55), Rama Mohnaty (52), Kalpana Rout (28) and some other members of the family were rushed to Dharmasala CHC.
However, they were released after their health condition improved following preliminary treatment.
Similarly, family members of two other families including three minors were admitted at Madhuban CHC.
The family members blamed their falling ill to the mushrooms while the doctors at the CHCs said that it was due to food poisoning.
