Bhubaneswar: ITI Bhubaneswar has introduced four smart trades for the first time in Odisha to enable students to bag the latest career opportunities with an IoT (Internet of Things) based curriculum.
IoT is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
The smart trades are IoT Technician Smart Agriculture, IoT Technician Smart City, IoT Technician Smart Healthcare and Smart Phone Technician-cum-Application Tester.
Each trade has 24 seats each. The good thing is that the courses are free for girls, physically challenged students and backward classes.
Leading electrical manufacturing firm Schneider Electric has made an offer to the Principal of Government ITI Bhubaneswar that it would sponsor a ‘Train the Trainer Programme’ by training faculty members.
“You have already declared a course on IoT-based Smart City curriculum which is a benchmark for other institutions in the country. We are happy to inform you that we are willing to train your faculty in some of our ‘Train the Trainer’ courses to enhance their technical skills,’’ said a letter from Schneider Electric to the institute.
The IoT Technician Smart Agriculture trade will enable students to understand emerging concepts in smart farming/agriculture by managing farms using technologies like IoT, robotics, drones and artificial intelligence to increase the quantity and quality of products while optimising the labour required for production.
