Balasore: Amid allegations of stale food being served to patients at the government hospitals, District Collector K Sudarshan Chakraborty made a surprise visit to the district headquarters hospital here Monday night.
Chakraborty examined the food served to patients and found the allegation vindicated his suspicion. The Collector directed the chief district medical officer Sashanka Sekhar Choudhry to initiate action against the agency serving food to the patients.
During his visit to the district headquarters hospital, he held a meeting with hospital staff in the presence of the CDMO about the problems being faced by the staff and patients.
He took stock of the healthcare and the prevailing sanitation on the hospital.
During his visit, some patients at the trauma care unit had drawn attention of the Collector towards the ‘stale food’ they were being served.
Acting on the complaint, he has sent in the CDMO Choudhry and Superintendent of Police B Jugal Kishore Kumar. Later, Town Police IIC Sarojini Nayak also reached the hospital. After all reached there, the Collector ordered for collection of the food sample.
Those who had complained of stale food were provided fresh food.
