Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, Capital city witnessed gruesome killing of a man Tuesday evening. Unknown miscreants killed a 24-year-old man at Rangamatia market under Mancheswar police station here Tuesday, said sources. The deceased was identified as Deepak Kumar Behera alias Landa of Rangamatia.
According to sources, four to five miscreants attacked Behera with sharp weapons and bamboo sticks when he was leaving for his home after closing his shop at Sahoo Market Complex Tuesday evening. Locals later rushed Behera to Capital Hospital where doctors declared him received dead.
Police said prima facie, old rivalry is believed to be the cause of the murder.
Sources also claimed that the miscreants attacked Landa a few months ago injuring him severely.
The residents of two hamlets (Upara Sahi and Tala Sahi) of Rangamatia have been at loggerheads for many years.
