Mahakalpada: Panic gripped residents of this area after a man was injured in a wild boar attack at Jammu village near Mahakalpada block forest range in Kendrapara district, Wednesday.
The person, who suffered an injury on a finger in his right hand, has been identified as Dhananjay Gayin (35) of Jammu village. Dhananjay was out in the jungle to answer nature’s call when the boar attacked him. He is currently under treatment at the Kendrapara DHH and his condition is stable.
Forest officials reached the Jammu village on being informed about the incident. Locals alleged deforestation, lack of food and water are forcing wild animals to stray into human habitats. They said that is the main reason man-animal conflict numbers have increased.
When asked to Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Bijay Kumar Paribhab said, steps will be taken to prevent further boar attacks in the locality.
