Bhawanipatna: A video featuring a girl being gangraped at Jaring forest near NH-26 under Jungarh police limits in Kalahandi district went viral on social media Sunday, even though the incident happened close to 10 days back. .
According to the complaint lodged by the victim with Junagarh Police Station, the incident took place September 14. In her complaint the girl said that around 2.00pm she was returning home from Bhawanipatna on a two-wheeler with a youth. Suddenly five-six armed miscreants waylaid them. They beat up the youth mercilessly before forcibly taking the girl to a nearby forest.
The miscreants then took turns in raping her at knifepoint. When the youth finally managed to raise an alarm, the miscreants fled.
Police have started investigation into the incident and efforts are onto nab the miscreants, it was learnt, Monday. Meanwhile efforts are on to delete the video from the social media platforms.
