Bhubaneswar: Notwithstanding the active government departments in the state many government outfits are yet to catch the e-governance brigade as of now and are yet to make their presence felt online.
Several state government departments in the state have come online but their public connection seem restricted.
There are many departments which have restricted themselves to retweet the tweets posted by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik or the Chief Ministers’ Office.
One such laggard department which has minimal presence online is the state Forest and Environment department. Their twitter handle t is often seen shying from posting public related information on social sites. It has currently confined itself to retweeting the tweets of others.
Similar is the fate of the state Finance Department. It has adhered to mostly retweeting the tweets of the CM and the CMO. Its share of original posts relating to its functioning or people’s issue is scarce.
The state Panchayati Raj department’s profile also shows lesser interest in making their social sites interactive. Their profiles indicated their interest to simply sharing the posts of the other departments relating to their functioning.
The department on the other hand has been handling important issues like Swachh Bharat Mission, Panchayati Raj related issues and others. But their discussions on the social sites have been limited.
Not only the departments, many state ministers are also not very social media friendly. Many ministers too have confined themselves to broadcast the views and posts of the CM and his office.
