Keonjhar: A female elephant is undergoing treatment at Bhuyan-Juanga-Pidha forest range in Keonjhar district, but its condition has not shown any improvement, said a report.
While an expert team of Similipal along with veterinary officials is monitoring the pachyderm’s health, another team of Wildlife Trust of India Tuesday reached the forest range to assist the treatment of the ailing elephant.
Locals had ventured into the forest September 28 when they spotted a pachyderm lying in an unconscious state.
On intimation, forest officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
The female elephant is reportedly being administered saline even as the vets are yet to identify the disease.
Earlier, the blood sample of the jumbo was sent to the lab. However, the exact disease of the pachyderm will be identified after the blood test report arrives.
DFO Ajit Sathpathy said the elephant has been taking food but unable to move.
