Patna: In absence of scientific education and lack of adequate healthcare facilities, the residents of tribals dominated districts of Odisha continue to fall prey to superstition. A similar case came to fore Wednesday after a 55-year-old man was buried in cow dung after he was struck by lightning.
The incident took place at Dudhinali village that comes under Machagarh panchayat of Patna police limits in Keonjhar district.
The victim has been identified as Pandu Munda (55). He died shortly after he was buried in cow dung.
According to a source, lightning struck Munda injuring him grievously while he was sitting on his house verandah.
The family members repeatedly called the 108 ambulance. However, since no help arrived, his family members buried him in cow dung.
The Fire brigade later reached the spot and took him to Karanjia hospital where he was declared ‘dead on arrival’.
On being informed, police officials reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. They have registered a case of unnatural death and have sent the body for postmortem.
