Baripada: Four police personnel were suspended in two different cases for their negligence in duty in Mayurbhanj district Friday.
An ASI and a Havildar of Suliapada police station in Mayurbhanj district were put under suspension today for dereliction of duty after an accused escaped from police custody Thursday.
The suspended cops were ASI SN Barik and Havildar DK Dash. According to sources, a woman +was injured in a road accident near Kujidihi under Suliapada police limits Thursday evening. On being informed, ASI Barik and havildar Dash reached the spot and rescued the woman and sent her to Baripada district headquarters hospital.
The two police personnel also admitted Sanjib Jena, the driver of the vehicle who caused the accident at Suliapada govermnet hospital for treatment. Sanjib is a resident of Manoharpur area in West Bengal.
Taking advantage of the cops not being watchful, Jena managed to flee from the hospital and that too with the police motorcycle.
Mayurbhanj superintendent of police Parmar Smit Parshottamdas took action against the two cops for negligence of duty.
In another incident, the SP suspended OPF Anjan Halwa and Gagan Bihari Nayak of Baripada Sadar Police Station as they were fighting over some issues when on duty.
