Bargarh: Employees of Tora Cooperative Sugar Mills have launched a two-day long sit-in at Bargarh Collector’s office Monday, seeking fulfillment of their demands.
With just a week to go for Bijepur by-election in Bargarh district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is going to visit Bijepur in the next two to three days.
Ahead of the CM’s visit and by-poll, the employees have started their dharana, demanding disbursement of outstanding salaries of 25 months and benefits of the Rs 11 crore package announced by the CM.
According to the agitating employees, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had attended a KALIA meeting at Ichhapali under Sohela block in the month of February. While addressing the gathering, he announced a package of Rs 11 crore for the sugar mill. But they are yet to get any benefits from the package.
Notably, the employees had staged a 73-day long demonstration crying for the fulfillment of various demands and called it off only after the CM’s announcement of Rs 11 crore package.
