Bhadrak: A massive fire broke out at Akhandalamani temple at in Aradi village, Bhadrak district Thursday night. The temple was gutted and valuables inside it including idol of the deity were reduced to ashes. The temple caught fire at 11.00om in the night. Luckily however, there was no loss of human life.
According to the servitors, this incident occurred after the last rituals for the day. After they left closing the door of the temple, flames erupted in the storeroom.
The security personnel deployed at the temple spotted smoke emanating from the room at around 1.00pm and immediately alerted the temple management. The servitors and fire services personnel from Dhamnagar area rushed to the spot. They managed to douse the flame after a huge effort, but by then considerable damage had been done.
