Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the five-day platinum jubilee celebrations of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar Saturday.
Naveen also announced Rs 100 Cr assistance for the development of infrastructure of the university on the occasion.
A preparatory meeting was earlier held at MKCG auditorium of the university.
More than five hundred alumni, who are working in various positions starting from political leaders to IAS officers, took part in the meeting. Various aspects of the platinum jubilee celebration such as programme and expenses were discussed and responsibilities were entrusted with the members.
According to the schedule of events, parents of the students would be invited to the campus November 25. Their feedback on the present education system and educational environment in the university would be taken. Then, they would be taken on a tour of the campus, classes and hostels.
During the five day event, the university will also organise a student-teacher day and a retired employees’ day.
The university has been decked up with lights and colours to mark the platinum jubilee celebrations.
