Bhubaneswar, August 10: The Crime Branch (CB) Monday continued grilling Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raula for the second day. The agency has so far seized at least 10 bank accounts of the self-styled godman.
CB officials said they will produce Sarathi in the court after his three-day remand is over Tuesday and will appeal to the court to take him on a fresh five-day remand for further interrogation. “A team of CB officials raided Baba’s Barimul ashram in Kendrapara Monday to collect more information. The officials have so far seized 10 bank accounts of the self-styled godman and one of the accounts has a balance of at least `1 crore,” sources said.
The agency officials also visited the Kendrapara branch of Allahabad Bank, one of the three banks where Satyam Charitable Trust, the trust run by Sarathi, has an account, they added. Meanwhile, a four-member team of CB including three women officials visited Paradip Monday to question the MBBS student of SCB Medical College and Hospital, who had accompanied Sarathi to Hyderabad.
Sources said the girl was interrogated on her relationship with Sarathi.
CB officials will also probe the complaint lodged by the girl with Mangalabag police station in Cuttack, in which she has alleged that four inmates of the ashram were blackmailing her and had forced her to accompany Sarathi during his trip to Hyderabad, they added. Sources said CB officials carried out raids at two locations in the city including his flat in Sri Vihar.
