Bhubaneswar, August 12: Noted Bollywood actress Radhika Apte who is playing the role of the daughter of a chieftain in a western Orissa village in her upcoming film ‘Kaun Kitney Paani Mein’ says performing on the famous Sambalpuri song Rangabati was full of challenges.
“It was a challenging job. The experience of dancing to the tune of the folk music was a feat. We rehearsed for the shoot for five nights and it was tiresome involvement by the team members,” says Apte.
Apte, started her career in Bollywood films with Vaah, life ho toh aise in 2005. She has already done films in Marathi, Telugu and Tamil. She spoke to the press along with her team members who visited the city Wednesday.
Kunal Kapoor, the lead actor of the film, who rose to fame from Rang De Basanti, said, “I was moved by the script of the movie. In order to understand the character better, I visited Orissa two years ago and stayed at the house of Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo who belonged to a royal family of Bolangir for a few days and learnt what a royal life means.”
The film has been directed by Nila Madhab Panda who rose to fame with his film ‘I am Kalam’. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “This Bollywood film is based on a story focusing on drought and water crisis in western Orissa. However we have attempted to make the film hillarious so that the audience never gets bored.”
Panda claimed he has received requests for adaption of the movie in English and Tamil. The organisers said the trailers of the movie and the Rangabati song from the film are doing the rounds on social sites and garnering good response.
Some of the shooting locales are western Orissa and the film is slated to release August 28. Pix by Shyama
