Bhubaneswar, August 13: As a matter of pride for the state, 11 school teachers have been selected to receive ‘National Award to Teachers 2014’ at New Delhi September 5.
The award will be conferred on them for their outstanding contribution to the field of education in the state.
According to sources, seven teachers from primary, one from special primary and three from secondary levels have been selected for the coveted award.
Those who have been selected under primary level are: Krushida Begam and Niharbala Rout from Dhenkanal, Sanjubala Mishra and Swarnalata Sarangi from Cuttack, Minati Patnayak from Puri, Subhansu Das from Kendrapara and Kabita Devi from Khurda districts.
Bimal Prasad Patnaik from Ganjam has been selected for the award under the special primary category while the teachers selected at the secondary level are Jhasketan Purohit from Bargarh, Bhagabat Panda from Mayurbhanj and Simanchal Pati from Gajapati districts.
The ministry has directed the state government to intimate the teachers selected for the awards and ask them to remain present at the award function to be held in New Delhi September 5.
Earlier, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) had cleared the names recommended by the state government in this regard. However, the ministry had raised doubts over six of the 11 nominations as certain documents were found missing. The MHRD had asked the state government to resubmit the documents in proper manner after which the ministry cleared all the nominations.
The MHRD in June asked the state government to resubmit documents of Krushida Begam, Niharbala Rout, Minati Patnayak, Kabita Devi, Bhagabat Panda and Bimal Prasad Pattnaik.
