Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded a whopping 101 COVID-19 positive cases Wednesday morning, taking the total tally in the State to 538. While Ganjam reported 52 cases, 33 cases have been detected in Balasore, 7 each in Jajpur and Sundargarh and two cases in Keonjhar.
This is the first time more than 100 cases are detected in one day. With this, the total positive cases in Ganjam touched 201. Ganjam becomes the first district to report more than 200 cases.
The 52 positive cases in Ganjam are the Surat returnesses who were already put in quarantine centres after their return. The positive cases from Jajpur were also residing in quarantine centres. Five of them are West Bengal returness and two from Maharastra.
Meanwhile, all seven Sundargarh positive cases are from Rourkela containment zone. The 2 Keonjhar returnees are also from quarantine centre.
On the other hand, among the remaining 33 positive cases from Balasore, 24 had returned from Surat, 3 from West Bengal and 2 from Bangalore.
