Berhampur, Sept 1: After introducing smart policing system and Ama Police in the city to get closer to the residents, the local police launched a new website Tuesday for the police in the district to get more people oriented.
Western range deputy inspector general Amitabh Thakur launched the website, www.brahmarakhyak.in.
Addressing a press meet at the DIG office, Berhampur superintendent of police (SP) Sarthak Sarangi said the website was meant for common people, who will be able to use it for registering complaints and give information to the police. Identity of the persons giving information would be kept secret, he added.
A person can send SMS and e-mail to the police by clicking on respective options to lodge complaint or give information. He can also upload required photo, audio and video using the website. The SP will have direct access to the information. Sarangi pointed out that the endeavour will reduce the gap between the police and residents.
The website is not a government one and is only meant for police in Berhampur district, he pointed out further.
Among others, Ganjam SP Narasingha Bhol and Berhampur additional SP Shasibhusan Satpathy were present at the press meet.
