Balasore: The proof and experimental establishment department at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Chandipur here has been shut down for an indefinite period following identification of two jawans as corona positive, Monday.
However, the rest of the departments of DRDO like integrated test range (ITR), MEX and EMU are still functioning without any hitch.
The matter came to fore after two jawans reportedly fell sick few days back. They were taken to the Balasore headquarters hospital where their health conditions failed to improve despite treatment. Later, the two jawans were shifted to the Commando Hospital of Indian Army in Kolkata where an examination of their swab samples identified them as corona positive.
Notably, barring these two jawans, 190 persons have been identified as corona positive in Balasore. Among them 136 persons have been discharged for home after their recovery from the disease. The rest 54 persons are undergoing treatment at various COVID-19 hospitals in the state. However, not a single person has died of the disease.
