Bhubaneswar: An Odisha doctor died of Covid-19 in the ICU of the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital in Delhi late Saturday.
The doctor Aswini Kumar Pratap (39) was working as a senior consultant with the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC). He was initially admitted to the Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital June 16 after showing symptoms of acute respiratory illness.
Two days later, he was shifted to the RGSSH after his condition further deteriorated, a senior official said.
Pratap who hailed from Banki in Cuttack district pursued his MBBS from MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhmapur in 2005.
His relatives, however, have urged the Odisha government to bring back his body as his two children and wife are undergoing treatment at a Bhubaneswar based Covid Hospital.
