Bhubaneswar: The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) department has issued a notification asking students receiving Banishree scholarship to obtain Aadhaar cards by July 31 and inform the government on the same.
The department has mandated that the students availing the scholarship should inform the government about possession of Aadhaar cards.
The department said, “An individual registered under Banishree Scholarship scheme is hereby required to furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar or undergo Aadhaar authentication,” the department said in the notification.
It also added that any individual registered under Banishree Scholarship scheme but yet not enrolled for Aadhaar shall have to apply for Aadhaar enrolment by July 31, 2020.
The department, however, said that if the enrolment facilities are not available in their area, the department can help in facilitating the same for early enrollment and compliance.
“..in case there are no Aadhaar enrolment centres located within the respective block/tehsil, the SSEPD department may provide enrolment facilities through Collectors of the districts at convenient locations,” the department said.
The department has also decided to create wide publicity on the issue.
The notification said, “Wide publicity through media and individual notices shall be undertaken to make the beneficiaries aware of Aadhaar requirement in the Banishree Scholarship scheme.”
“The applicants or beneficiaries may be requested to register their request for enrolment by giving their names with other details, such as an address, bank account details, mobile number on the portal and such requests may also be registered with the block office,” the department said.
