Khurda: The district administration here sealed the Balugaon fish market on Chilika banks Sunday after a fish trader detected positive for COVID-19.
According to Khurda collector Sitanshu Kumar Rout, the market will remain shut for seven days. District administration officials have sealed two fish godowns and three ice factories owned by the fish traders.
Meanwhile, fire brigade has been deployed to sanitise several fish godowns and retail shops in the markert. Contact tracing is going on as well.
Further, a notification issued by the administration says that no vehicle carrying fish would ply to and from Ganjam district in the meanwhile. This restriction will remain in force until further orders.
It may be mentioned here that rising number of locally contracted COVID-19 cases continues to remain a headache for the district administration.
With 107 positive cases, a total of 1,972 persons in Khordha district have so far tested positive for the virus. Out of 1972, 862 are undergoing treatment, while 1090 have recovered from the disease. The death toll in the district stands at seven.
