Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police unmasked a fake job portal Wednesday. They said the web portal is being used to get the identities of job aspirants and their credit card and PayTM details. Crime Branch officials have sent an advisory to district Superintendents of Police (SPs), Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and SsRP of Rourkela and Cuttack regarding the fake portal https://shinejob.tech/. The portal has been hosted on a German IP protocol. Efforts are on to close it down.

The fake website under Crime Branch scanner has different web pages. Any user applying for a job on this site is first asked to submit identity and credit card details along with CVV number. The charges shown for applying for a job is Rs 10.00, the Crime Branch sources said.
Once the details are submitted, the user is redirected to a webpage where he or she has to submit the PayTM pin. However, at the end, the website shows a payment gateway error, the police sources informed. They stated that once the details of credit cards and PayTM are submitted, the users are at risk of losing money.
The Crime Branch has also warned that job aspirants should take the following precautions:
- Do not blindly trust the URL of any website, because a little change in the alphabet in domain appears as original.
- Verify the domain name from friends or persons having knowledge about its genuineness.
- User must not give financial details i.e. ATM Card/Credit Card No/CVV No/PayTM PIN No., as it is not usually asked anywhere.
- User must check that the payment gateway must be UPI (PayTM) based page, when a person is redirected for payment.
5. As the registration fee is very minimal (in this case Rs 10 only), the users should verify the authenticity of the webpage they are visiting.
