Jajpur: All ten blocks in Jajpur district have been badly affected by floods as the water level has been gradually rising in Brahmani and Kharashrota rivers, informed Collector Ranjan Kumar Das Friday.
On the other hand, the water level in River Baitarani has been receding since Thursday evening, Das asserted.

Breaches in river embankments were reported at 12 places thereby causing extensive damage. Jajpur, Binjharpur, Dasarathpur, Bari, Rasulpur, Korei, and Dharmashala blocks are the most affected areas here.
“Due to the rise in water level in Baitarini River Dasarathpur, Jajpur and Korei were affected. The water level in Baitarani River is receding after midnight yesterday. Three breaches had occurred in the Baitarani river system. Free kitchens have been opened and relief is being provided in these places,” the Collector said.
The Collector cautioned that the water level is still rising and is likely to increase by evening today. He informed that one person has died in Panasa panchayat under Jajpur block due to wall collapse.
The district administration had requested people residing in low-lying areas and along the riverbanks to shift to safer places. In some places, it has come to notice that people have not shifted. They are being evacuated with the help of local police.
By now, over 2,500 people have been evacuated and sent to safer places. Two teams each from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Fire Service have been deployed in rescue and relief operations.
