Kendrapara: Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Diptikanta Parija died in a road mishap at Patkura on Tikanpur-Beula road in Kendrapara district Tuesday night.
According to sources, Parija was returning home when his ill-fated car skidded off the road and plunged into roadside floodwater.

Parija was rescued by some local villagers and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Notably, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had recently appointed Parija as the Joint Secretary of Odisha-Mo Parivar. He was a well-known leader of Patkura Assembly constituency.
