Cuttack: The Cuttack district administration has allowed the opening of firecracker shops in the city for Diwali celebrations, albeit with strict adherence of COVID-19 guidelines.
DCP Prateek Singh Monday said that the city police will decide in which location the firecracker shops will be opened. He also clarified that the owners can only open their shops after obtaining a license from the DCP office.
Singh directed the shopkeepers to maintain social distancing at their shops. Wearing of mask is mandatory both for shopkeepers and customers, he added.
“Kali Puja will be celebrated in the city with adherence to COVID-19 guidelines,” Singh further informed.
As many as 15 platoons of police force and 50 officers will be deployed during Kali Puja here, he said.
