Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay reviewed the security arrangements Thursday for the Winter Session of the state Legislative Assembly. The Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will commence November 20 and will continue till December 3. DGP Abhay informed that police force of 28 platoons will be deployed as security measures. A three-tier security arrangement will be put in place during the Winter Session. The entire security arrangement will be supervised by approximately 80 officers.
“I am satisfied with the security arrangements made by the Director of Intelligence and Police Commissionerate,” Abhay said. He informed that uniformed police personnel will be deployed at inner cordon of the Assembly while cops in plain clothes as well as in uniform will look after security arrangements inside the Assembly. Some police officers will also be looking after the security arrangements at the various entrance gates to the Assembly.
Abhay also said the Intelligence Department sleuths will also be put into service during the Winter Session of the Assembly. Also special units of the police force with expertise in anti-terrorist operations have been kept ready. They can be pressed into service whenever required. Tight security arrangements have also been made in the vicinity of the Assembly premises and the Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
