Berhampur: Gearing up for a possible second wave of COVID-19 infections in Ganjam district, the district administration has decided to continue the functioning of the TATA COVID Hospital at Sitalapalli in Berhampur.
Notably, the district administration November 18 decided to shut the functioning of the hospital from November 30 as COVID-19 cases were declining in Odisha. The district administration had asked the hospital authority not to admit any new COVID-19 patient from November 30.
Keeping in mind that a second wave of infections may appear in the future, the district administration has changed its decision and asked the hospital authority to continue the operation after November 30 too.
In a letter to the CEO of Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange asked him to continue the functioning of the hospital.
In the letter the Collector said, “Looking into the second wave of COVID-19 infections, you are hereby requested to continue functioning of the Tata COVID hospital with a provision of 55 ICU beds. All other previous conditions to remain unchanged.”
