Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre here said Thursday that another fresh low-pressure area is very likely to form over southern parts of central Bay of Bengal around November 29.
This may trigger heavy rainfall across Odisha from November 30 to December 1.
The IMD added in its bulletin that the low-pressure is very likely to move towards the north-west. It will cross north Andhra Pradesh and the adjoining south Odisha coast in the form of a depression around November 30 in the afternoon/evening. Due to the depression a number of districts will receive heavy rainfall.
IMD in its afternoon bulletin said that light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and at a few places over the districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
The forecast suggests that dry weather will prevail over all districts in the next two days before the likely formation of the LOPAR on the 29th of November.
Meanwhile, the IMD has said that severe Cyclonic Storm Nivar over southwest Bay of Bengal, will cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mamallapuram around Puducherry during midnight of 25th and early hours of 26th November as a very severe cyclonic storm.
