Binjharpur: Six months have passed since two-year-old Pihu went missing from near her house at Madhusudanpur village in Jajpur district. But the police are yet to get any breakthrough in the case.
Pihu has been missing since August 9, 2020.
Meanwhile, Binjharpur police, seeking cooperation from people, have intensified the search operation. They have put up posters at different locations and announced a Rs 20,000 cash reward to anyone who provides information regarding Pihu’s disappearance. To share information, two mobile phone numbers (8763137726, 9437373737) are also provided on the poster. To trace out the girl, five investigating teams have already been formed.
As a part of its search operation, the police had dried up a pond near the girl’s house Sunday.
According to sources, Monalisha Nayak, Pihu’s mother, is a native of Madhusudanpur village under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district. Her in-laws’ house is at a village under Nayakanidihi police limits in Bhadrak district. Due to some reasons, she along with her daughter has been staying at her parents’ house in Madhusudanpur village.
It was around 3:00 pm August 9 last year. Pihu was last seen by her maternal grandfather playing with her friends near the house. Later, when Monalisha came out to feed Pihu, she did not find her anywhere. The family members launched a frantic search for her at all the possible places including the ponds and wells in the village but to no avail.
They lodged a missing report at Binjharpur police station August14. IIC Niranjan Sabar had visited the village and talked with the neigbours and villagers. Jajpur SP Rahul P R recently visited Binjharpur to review the progress of investigation into the case.
While the police are yet to get any breakthrough in the case, several political and social organisations have been demanding that the police intensify the investigation.
