Smriti Irani has gained a lot of popularity as an actress as well as a politician. Irani started her showbiz career at the age of 21 by participating in the ‘Miss India’ beauty pageant. In this video Irani is seen walking on the ramp with poise and confidence. She states that she is pursuing a degree in English Literature and is fond of adventure-based sports. However, it was then only she expressed a keen desire in politics.

After participating in the ‘Miss India’ pageant, Smriti started her journey on the small screen. She also was the face of some music videos including the song ‘Boliyan’ from the album Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag with Mika Singh.
Irani made her TV debut in 2000 with the show Hum Hain Aaj Kal Aur Kal. However, it was Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that made her a household name. During her career on the small screen Irani won the Indian Television Academy Awards for five ‘Best Actress’, four Indian Tele Awards and eight Star Parivar Awards.

On political front, Irani is a Minister. She is serving in the cabinet of Narendra Modi as Minister of Textiles. She was given additional charge as Minister of State for Women and Child Development in 2019.
