Sambalpur: Administrative authorities of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla of Sambalpur district Wednesday ordered a probe against alleged ragging by seniors.
According to sources, the disciplinary committee and anti-ragging cell of VSSUT has initiated the investigation. The probe began in the morning after a student of the Western Odisha varsity alleged that he had been ragged by his seniors in the campus.

The complainant is a second year student. The anti-ragging squad has interrogated some of the fourth year students who were identified by the victim, a member of the disciplinary committee said.
Notably, the incident surfaced barely a week after some fourth year students were imposed financial penalty in connection with a similar case at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Sambalpur district.
Earlier, 18 MBBS students at the medical college here were imposed a total fine of Rs 54,000 for their involvement in the ragging.
