Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department in its latest weather forecasting has issued warning of thunderstorm and lightning in several parts of the state during the next four days.
The department also said that light to moderate rains are likely in different parts of the state from Monday to Thursday. The department has issued Yellow Warning for thunderstorm and lightning for these four days.
While issuing the warning for Monday, the department said, “Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Nuapada, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jajpur and Deogarh.”
The department has also predicted rains in some pockets of the state Monday. The forecasting report of the department for Monday said, “Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and at one or two places over the rest of the districts of Odisha,”
The similar trends are likely to follow till Thursday as rains, thunderstorm and lightning are expected in several parts of the state. The department however said that changes in the maximum and minimum temperature in the state are unlikely for the next four days.
The IMD said that the state capital might see cloudy sky with the possibility of development of thunder and lightning. The maximum temperature is likely to be 37 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature of the city is likely to be around 25 degree Celsius.
Nevertheless, the maximum temperature in the state Sunday was recorded in Jharsuguda and Boudh which saw 40 degrees C temperature each while the minimum temperature was recorded in Koraput which saw 18 degree C temperature.
