Bhubaneswar: Showing solidarity with the states facing acute shortage of medical oxygen, the Odisha government has so far sent 153 tankers carrying 2,879.082 metric tonne (MT) of the life-saving gas to eight states. The states are Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh has received the highest quantity of 1,035.36MT medical oxygen in 49 tankers, followed by Telangana (702.439MT in 41 tankers), Madhya Pradesh (318.35MT in 20 tankers), Haryana (297.662MT in 13 tankers), Uttar Pradesh (238.43MT in 13 tankers), Maharashtra (112.06MT in six tankers), Chhattisgarh (121.321MT in eight tankers) and Tamil Nadu (53.46MT in three tankers).

These tankers were loaded at oxygen plants in four districts. They are Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Sundargarh (Rourkela).
The lion’s share of medical oxygen – 1186.902MT was sent in 61 tankers from Rourkela. A total of 895.66MT, 342.82MT and 453.7MT of medical oxygen were sent in 43, 21 and 28 tankers from Jajpur, Angul and Dhenkanal districts respectively.
